Under the commercial name Agropathogen, CTAEX intends to commercialise a PCR-technology-based kit to check for the presence of bacteria in the food industry. In the technology developed at the Centre’s microbiology laboratory, the researchers have tuned the technique for releasing batches of foodstuffs, initially for tomato concentrate, to guarantee that it the product has been pasteurised correctly, in under 24 hours.
This kit permits the food industry to ensure that its products are free of microorganisms that could spoil them, and to confirm that the products are innocuous. It can be applied both to tomatoes and other products. Given the versatility of PCR technology, the kit can be easily adapted to the specific needs of each company.
The system is versatile and adaptable to a wide variety of foodstuffs, it is rapid and reliable. The presence of different types of organisms can be determined and quantified in less than 24 hours.
This development is available to food companies, with CTAEX offering its entire technical team for implementation of this system.
