This patent is for a device for observing distant objects. This invention is especially applicable to observing solar or lunar eclipses.
This invention allows the user to visualise distant objects comfortably, with an enhanced level of detail. The device includes a means to secure it to the head of a user so they can
view a distant object with their own eyes, and there is also a smartphone coupling so the object can be photographed. It also includes a magnifier to increase the apparent size of the object and show it in greater detail. To facilitate ease of use, it is so designed as to distribute the weight comfortably.
This patent was originally devised for observing solar and lunar eclipses. The device allows the user to observe the Sun safely, with crisper detail of the solar photosphere so sunspots can be seen, with the added convenience that the hands remain free. It can be coupled to a smartphone for astrophotography. It could also be used for birdwatching. With this patent, anybody can have a small, low-cost telescope that is easily transportable.
